So, how's your holiday shopping going? Mine is sloooooooow. Who has time? But the truth is, that ready or not, here comes the holiday season! If your fur baby gets her own stocking or gifts, or you just know an animal lover that you'd like to please this holiday season, I've got some great gift ideas for you. I mean, I've practically done your shopping for you! Online shopping, of course, because, oh, those holiday shopping crowds... no thanks.
Treats are on obvious choice. You can order them online, get them in the store, make them.... so many options, and totally guaranteed to be a hit! Dog bones fall into this category, and keep your fur baby occupied while you eat your holiday dinner. That's winning the holidays right there! I'm a sucker for a homemade gift, so I think it would be awesome to make treats. I even have a great dog treat recipe for you-- see my November 3rd blog post. Making treats is also a fun way to get the kids involved, and keep THEM occupied during their break from school. Bonus!
Personalized gifts are always fun, and, well-- personal! You can get your pet's photo printed on a pillow, or a mug, or a calendar, or a puzzle for the kids. Oh, the possibilities! Vistaprint and Shutterfly are great web sites for these items, and they are affordable. Shutterfly will even put your pet's name on their bowl, and they have a bunch of different styles to choose from. Is your dog or cat a flight risk? Then Hot Dog Collars has the gift for you: they make dog collars and leashes with your dog's name and your phone number embroidered on them. You can even get a Martingale collar if you are training your pup. They have tons of colors and patterns to choose from. It makes my rainbow unicorn heart so happy!

Toys are another obvious choice, so I'm going to break them down a bit for you:
Cat toys:
This first one is for my own amusement, as well as for the cat's. The Cat Catch Interactive LED Pointer is a laser pointer. But it's not just any ordinary laser pointer. Nope. It's buttons are in the shape of a paw (aaawww!), and it has a flashing option and a steady option for your LED. The best part? You don't have to hold down the button constantly on the LED. These people know that hurts your finger after a while. What a great way to entertain your cat while you lazily watch the latest episode of “Game of Thrones”. SOLD!

Creaker makes a 3-way cat tunnel with a pom pom hanging from it. This thing is basically the equivalent to a fidget spinner for cats. They can run in and out, scoot it around the room, bat at the pom pom, have a blast, and then collapse from exhaustion. That's more than a fidget spinner does for kids! It's collapsible and portable. Winner, winner, tuna dinner!

A classic, although messier option, is catnip. If you've never seen a cat roll around like crazy in catnip, you're missing out. It's quite the hilarious scene. They make toys with catnip inside, but I find the best way is just to sprinkle some on a hard floor and let them go to town. The only downside is it's a bit messy, but a hand-held vacuum will pick up what your cat doesn't ingest.
Dog toys:
Outward Hide-a-Squirrel would be on my short list for dog toys. I found this online and it looks so fun that I almost want to play with it! It's a plush tree trunk with holes in it, and the little squeaky squirrels fit inside the holes. If your dog is easily distracted and prone to chasing squirrels (as so many are), this would be EPIC. I wanna see this thing in action. SQUIRREL!!

Chuck-its are arm-savers, plain and simple. If your dog likes to fetch, then a Chuck-it is THE best. If you've been living under a rock, it's that long plastic thing that picks up those nasty slobbery balls, keeps them at arm's length with their long handle, and helps you throw the ball without removing your arm from the socket. Because, really, is there anything ickier than a drooly, filthy dog ball? But, is there anything better than playing fetch until your dog is exhausted? Thank you, THANK YOU, Chuck-it inventor!

Kong Wild Knots Bear toy is a best seller, and I can see why. To begin with, it's an adorable plush bear. Now, I know dogs don't care about “adorable”, but it does have a squeaker AND rope inside, making chewing on it very satisfying. To top if off, there is little stuffing inside, which equals less mess for when your dog (eventually) wrecks it. Manufacturer claims it's extra durable. Score!

And that's the way to animal hearts, y'all! Happy shopping!
